Rougheye Rockfish is also known as the blackthroat, blacktip and rockfish

Rougheye, include several species of bass-like fish. The fish is a popular fish off of the West coast of British Columbia. It gets its name from a row of tiny spines found right under the eyes. This fish can live for over 140 years and can grow to 38 inches and 19 pounds.

Rougheye are caught using hook
and line, trawl or longline. Rougheye are managed
as part of the West Coast groundfish fishery which
NOAA Fisheries and the Pacific Fishery Management
Council carefully oversee.

Rougheye Rockfish is an excellent eating fish with white, moderately flavored flesh that is tender but holds together well with any cooking method. You can grill or fry rockfish and it will go well with dill, lemon pepper and garlic.
